City Clinic Cancer Center has a pulmonology sector for complex diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. The department has been furnished with state-of-the-art equipment providing the option of covering the entire range of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures in the field of pulmonology. The main areas of activities are early and precise diagnosis as well as prompt and effective treatment of the most widely spread lung diseases, including but not limited to:
- Lung carcinoma
- Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease
- Lung thromboembolism
The Department has the latest fibrobronchoscopy device offering NBI images detecting the early stages of bronchial mucosa while still invisible for the older optical fibrobronchoscopy devices. Along with the latest 128-sliced computed tomography, this diagnostic method makes it possible to detect lung carcinoma at a very early stage when the disease is completely curable. These are appropriate and recommended by the American Thoracic Association screening examinations for lung carcinoma risk patients – generally smokers of more than one packet of cigarettes per day for 10+ years, aged 45 years and older. The Pulmonology Dept. works in close collaboration with the Center of Interventional Treatment of BTE at City Clinic Cardiology Center.
